Young Oak Kim Academy, the home of the Dragons, is located in Koreatown. It was founded in 2009. It is a Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) middle school and it is the only middle school in the Los Angeles Unified School District to teach education in a single-sex setting. In 2019, approximately 922 students were enrolled and the school had a student/teacher ratio of 26:1.
